Celebrating 20 Years of Dedication with Brent
This year we celebrate another incredible milestone—20 years of dedication, hard work, and friendship from Brent, our much-loved friend, delivery driver and true member of the Sutton Hoo Chicken family.
Brent at Kennel Farm
From the early days at Kennel Farm, working alongside Charles to wrap and pack chickens, to braving winter snowdrifts (with an unforgettable rescue mission from Charlie himself), Brent has been an essential part of our journey. His belief in what we do, his reliability, and his unwavering commitment have made him an essential part of the team.
Through the years, he’s seen it all, including the surreal experience of delivering during the Covid lockdown, navigating the empty roads while keeping our customers stocked and our business moving forward. We are endlessly grateful for his contribution to helping get the business to where it is today.
We asked Brent a couple of questions to celebrate this milestone. But Brent, thank you so much for your 20 amazing years. Here’s to many more miles, memories, and shared stories ahead!
Looking back, what is one of your most memorable moments working with Charles in the early days of the business?
“Earliest memory of working with Charles...After initially being asked to do some local deliveries, he then trusted me to assist with the wrapping and packing of the chicken. His passion and belief in the product, combined with the enthusiasm and determination to make the business a success always impressed me right from the beginning. I will always remember him.
On a more practical theme....during my first winter working for Sutton Hoo, I managed to get the van stuck in a snowdrift {near Bealings}....embarrassingly I had to phone Charlie with the news and straight away he came out in the old blue land rover and towed me out!
Another personal memory for me was the strange world of continuing to make deliveries throughout the Covid Pandemic and Lockdown! Taking precautions to stay safe and driving on deserted roads....it was all very surreal but we and the business came through it!”
How has the the company changed and what has stayed the same?
“The major change is that the Company guided by its owners has grown to become a well respected, well recognised and successful high quality product in a competitive market which has led to a huge increase in the distribution of the product. The introduction of a well produced and informative website has also helped.
One of the most important aspects of the company that has remained constant throughout my 20 years of being involved is that it's never moved away from its strong ethos and its commitment to the company mission.....to produce and supply a truly free range chicken. Sutton Hoo Chicken is a fine example of a successfully run family business and I've been more than happy to be part of the team.....thanks to Charles, Belinda, Will, Josie and now Annie.”
